WASHINGTON, D.C. — The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is exploring the potential of privatizing the area’s non-regional bus service and a 22-mile priority streetcar system as a means to accelerate delivery and has issued an RFI (Request for Information).
In laying out its plans to potential investors, the DDOT said the system would cost about $1.2 billion to build and equip with 50 streetcars and about $65 million a year to operate.
