Southern Ill. U. to cut link to local college

CARBONDALE, Ill. — The elimination of a Southern Illinois University (SIU) Saluki Express bus route to Carterville has some students missing a ride to John A. Logan College, The Southern Illinoisan reported. The Logan bus route will be cut this fall because of the move of the automotive department from their Carterville location to the Transportation Education Center at the Southern Illinois Airport.

An SIU spokesperson told The Southern Illinoisan that the route cost the university about $100,000 annually and about $18,000 to John A. Logan College, and “neither Logan nor SIU could justify that funding” for the number of people using the route. For the full story, click here.
