Detroit rail project announcement coming soon

DETROIT — U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood and Gov. Rick Snyder said that an announcement on the creation of a regional transit authority, which would also operate a light rail line in Detroit may be just weeks away, Detroit Free Press reported.

Lawmakers are still debating the proposed transit authority, which would run a 110-mile, bus rapid transit system and eventually take over operation of a 3.3-mile light-rail line in Detroit. For the full story, click here.
