San Diego man plans paratransit service

ESCONDIDO, Calif. — Tom Bumgardner, founder of the nonprofit Valley Center Community Recreation Center, is trying to start a free backcountry bus service for seniors and residents with disabilities, North County Times reported.

Bumgardner’s nonprofit used $138,000 in Federal Transit Administration grant funds to order two passenger buses and plans to put them into service in January. He is also trying to secure grant funding to operate the buses across the North County backcountry. For the full story, click here.
