NEW YORK CITY — MTA New York City Transit is expanding the pilot program to remove trash cans from stations. Despite its success, the pilot, which originated in two stations with the goal of reducing the number of exposed trash bags that would have to be removed from the system and to help control the rodent population in the subway, is reported to have had mixed results, according to an Atlantic Cities blog.
