Denver RTD’s FasTracks honored for management, improvement

Denver Regional Transportation District’s (RTD) FasTracks program was presented with the Rocky Mountain Performance Excellence’s (RMPEx) Timberline Award Oct. 26 at the RMPEx Quest for Excellence event in Loveland.

The RMPEx Awards Program recognizes organizations from education, health care, manufacturing, nonprofit/government, service and small business in Colorado, Montana and Wyoming for successful management practices and continuous efforts at improvement. Organizations may apply at four different levels: Peak, Timberline, Foothills and High Plains. In 2012, there were 14 applications for all levels. The Timberline Award is the second highest award and FasTracks was the only organization to win the award at that level this year. In 2011, FasTracks was awarded the Foothills Award.

FasTracks was honored for its demonstration of a fact-based, systematic evaluation and improvement process, and organizational learning, including innovation that results in improving the effectiveness and efficiency of key processes. FasTracks performed the best in the categories of Data and Information Management, Societal Responsibility, and Processes for Customer Listening and Public Information.

“This is a great honor for RTD, especially since only a few governmental agencies achieve this level,” said Rick Clarke, assistant GM of capital programs. “To be recognized for our demonstration and commitment to excellent performance is a major achievement.”

RMPEx is a nonprofit that helps organizations improve performance and formally recognizes them for performance excellence achievements.

RTD’s FasTracks transit expansion program will build 122 miles of commuter rail and light rail, 18 miles of bus rapid transit service, add 21,000 new parking spaces, redevelop Denver Union Station and redirect bus service to better connect the eight-county District.
