CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The Orange County Board of Commissioners voted 4 to 3 to move forward with the Transit Interlocal Implementation Agreement, which would expand bus services in the county, and includes the construction of a light rail, The Daily Tar Heel reported.
A rule was removed that would have allowed Orange County transit services to use up to 50% of funds for existing transit projects instead of for expanding new services. However, some commissioners are concerned that much of the funds might still end up being used on existing projects because the board did not approve a rule to replace the 50% cap.
