Shanghai to expand public transit

SHANGHAI, China — The Shanghai Municipal Transport and Port Authority found that, in the past year, 47% of residents here commuted between home and work using public transportation, according to AFP Relaxnews.

To meet rising demand, the municipal government is working to expand public transportation by adding 109 miles of subway track to the city’s underground network by the year 2015. Transport authorities also have plans to expand the city bus lanes from the existing 100 km to 186 km by the end of 2015. For the full story, click here.
