VANCOUVER, B.C. — After a recent bomb scare, TransLink officers adopted a strategy that was originally created by the New York Police Department to sweep for explosives, deter anti-social behavior and make themselves more accessible to passengers, The Vancouver Sun reported.
The strategy includes Train Order Maintenance Sweeps (TOMS), with transit police at Canada Line and SkyTrain stations around Metro Vancouver, stepping aboard each train and briefly scanning the car.
