LANSING, Mich. — Problems among the members of a coalition seeking to consolidate management of public transportation in southeast Michigan could jeopardize $25 million in federal funding for a Detroit streetcar line, reported The Detroit News.
Washtenaw County officials no longer want to be a part of the coalition, and suburban Detroit lawmakers are opposed to the coalition’s proposed zoning and condemnation powers, as well as high-speed bus routes.
