SEPTA defends shutdowns for Hurricane

PHILADELPHIA — Despite the milder-than-expected impact from Hurricane Sandy in some parts of the area, Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) transit officials defended their decision to shut down the region's network of buses, trains, and subways on Monday and Tuesday morning, philly.com reported.

SEPTA GM Joseph Casey told philly.com that the agency needed to shut down the service temporarily because of public safety concerns as well as for the safety of its employees. For the full story, click here.
