EVERETT, Wash. — Effective January 1, Everett Transit will increase its fares by 25 cents for most riders, HeraldNet reported. Commuter and paratransit fares will not change.

The city told HeraldNet that the higher fares are needed because of rising fuel prices. The spike is expected to generate $400,000 to $480,000 in extra revenue next year. For the full story, click here.
