HOBOKEN, N.J. — myCentralJersey.com reported that NJ Transit is looking into building a train storage yard far from where the storm-surge waters from Superstorm Sandy that swamped the agency’s upper Hoboken and Meadowlands Maintenance Center yards. Nearly one-quarter of its fleet was damaged by flooding. Two locations off the busy Northeast Corridor Line are being considered.
One transit official told the paper that Monday’s vote in the U.S. Senate to allocate storm recovery aid could be a deciding factor in the plan. For the full story, click here.
