UPDATE: LOS ANGELES — The AP reported that the bus that crashed on a Southern California mountain highway, leaving seven dead and dozens injured, had a history of brake and other maintenance issues that attracted increased scrutiny from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

LOS ANGELES — Reuters reported that at least eight people died and dozens were injured when a tour bus collided with a pickup truck on a Southern California highway on Sunday. Many passengers were ejected in the accident.
A patrol spokesman told Reuters that the bus was operated by Scapadas Magicas, a tour company based in National City, Calif. For the full story, click here.
Additionally, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is launching a go-team to investigate the accident. NTSB highway safety investigator Robert Accetta will serve as the investigator-in-charge and will be accompanied by investigators with expertise in motor carrier operations and survival factors.
