WASHINGTON, D.C. — The confirmation hearing for U.S. transportation secretary nominee Anthony Foxx will be held Wednesday, May 22 before the U.S. Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee.

Most of his predecessors were Washington insiders familiar to the senators who vetted them. Foxx, a second-term Democratic mayor of Charlotte, is relatively unknown in the capital that makes the traditional Capitol Hill meet-and-greet process for Cabinet nominees even more important, the Charlotte Observer reported.
