SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake Tribune reported that Utah Transit Authority (UTA) is considering either directing the system’s police force to stop performing customer service duties and focus on serious enforcement that only they can conduct, or disband the force.

Michael Allegra, the agency’s GM, told the paper that one advantage to having the transit police force is conducting fare enforcement, because it reduces confrontations, making riders feel safer. For the full story, click here.
