Alstom wins Sardinian signaling contract

Both lines combined are 60 miles long and include 20 stations. Thirty-four regional trains circulate on the Monseratto –Sernobì line and 16 on the Macomer-Nuoro line. The project involves the implementation of the complete railway signaling system for both lines.
It includes ACC-M railway signaling system2, a computerized multi-station interlocking, and Traffic Management Systems (TMS) at the control center of each line. It also involves the supply of level crossings, passenger information, video surveillance and anti-intrusion systems.
Based on Alstom’s multi-station Smartlock and Iconis control center solutions, the new system will allow ARST to manage rail traffic in real-time on both lines in an efficient, fully automated manner. Guaranteeing timely decision-making and rapid reaction times, the system will enable a 100% increase in traffic capacity on the Monserrato-Isili line and a 70% increase on the Macomer-Nuoro line.
Alstom’s Bologna site will be responsible for designing and producing the systems in collaboration with the Bari railway signaling research and development center.
