LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles City Councilman Jose Huizar told CBS Los Angeles that the rise in the cost of the proposed streetcar line in Downtown Los Angeles will likely delay the project. The price of the project is increasing from last year’s estimate of about $125 million due in part to relocating utility lines.

However, Huizar told the news outlet that some of the cost increase estimates are “alarmist” and pointed out that all transit projects have worst-case scenarios.

Construction was initially scheduled to start next year, but will have to be pushed back to 2015 or 2016 because of the funding problems. For the full story, click here.
