KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Western Michigan University’s (WMU) new Transportation Research Center for Livable Communities opened last week, according to mLive.

The primary goal of the center is to improve environmentally sustainable transportation options for underrepresented communities, with special attention being paid to non-motorized travel, including bike and pedestrian travel, job accessibility and "smart" technologies.

WMU will serve as the lead institution for the center, partnering with Tennessee State University, the University of Texas - Arlington, Utah State University and Wayne State University. For the full story, click here.
