The commuter rail will be the first new system to open in the U.S. in three years, according to Reuters. By the time the second phase is completed, SunRail will have extended the commuter rail system a total of 61 miles at a cost of $1 billion.
The long-term plan for the project is for the commuter rail to tie into an extensive public transit network linking Orlando and Miami by All Aboard Florida, an intercity higher-speed rail system. For the full story, click here.
