N.Y. agency honored for special needs work

Innersight, a nonprofit organization committed to providing advocacy for the disabled, both locally and globally, recently presented John Corrado, president and CEO of Suffolk Transportation Service Inc., with a special award reflecting the organization’s and special needs advocacy community’s appreciation.

For more than 25 years, Innersight, a not-for-profit organization made up of disabled volunteers, has worked to advocate for the disabled in all areas of daily life.

“If it weren’t for John Corrado and Ray Grimaldi (Suffolk Transportation Service executive director), I would not have a guide dog,” said Frank Perino, executive director for Innersight, who presented the award. “Through their efforts, I had a new dog one week after the passing of my last dog. This means a lot to me personally, but the fact is that John and Ray and the team at Suffolk Transportation listen to the needs and concerns of our community and respond. We hold them up as the example to follow when it comes to serving the needs of the special needs community.”
