PITTSBURGH —  Six of the eight highest-paid Port Authority of Allegheny County employees in the last fiscal year were bus drivers, some of them racking up about $80,000 in overtime and earning more than $130,000, Trib Live News reported.

Port Authority spokesman Jim Ritchie said part of the reason for the overtime costs was reduced staffing. The agency was down 50 drivers but did not fill the slots because of uncertainty surrounding funding prior to the passage of the state's transportation law, Act 89, in November, according to the report.
