The Montreal Urban Community Transit Corp. (MUCTC) began distributing a free transit-system newspaper at 65 of its stations. The paper, called Métro, runs an average of 24 pages and offers local, national and international news to the MUCTC’s riders. It is aimed specifically at users of the public transit system and has a circulation of 100,000. Done in partnership with the MUCTC, the paper is published and printed by Transcontinental. Metro International S.A., a publisher of free transit system newspapers, also has ownership in the paper.
