Bombardier Transportation was awarded an order by the Metro-North Commuter Railroad in New York for the supply of 180 electrical multiple unit commuter cars valued at $320 million. The order calls for the design, manufacture and delivery of new M-7 commuter cars featuring IGBT propulsion, on-board monitoring and diagnostic systems. With the execution of this option, the M-7 contract totals 858 cars including 666 option cars. Manufacturing of the cars will begin early next year with deliveries scheduled for early 2004.
