Alstom delivered the final two of 598 refurbished subway cars in contracts amounting to $350 million to the Chicago Transit Authority. The current order, for 108 cars, was delivered six months ahead of contractual schedule. Refurbishment of the 2600 series subway cars extends their operating life by 15 to 20 years. Alstom refurbished the cars at its facilities in Hornell, N.Y., where more than 3,000 cars from various transit authorities have been overhauled.
