Metavante launches Web-based fare payment system

Metavante Corp. launched a new service with MTA Long Island (N.Y.) Rail Road (LIRR) providing riders the ability to order and pay for tickets over the Internet. The new service, WebTicket, is a complete automated package that enables LIRR customers to purchase monthly, weekly, 10-day and daily tickets at a discount and in advance, directly from its Website. Upon completion of an order, tickets are produced and mailed within 24 hours for delivery within three to five business days to ensure receipt by their intended use period. In addition to developing and hosting the site, Metavante manages the ticket orders, payments and fulfillment of the tickets.
