The North County Transit District (NCTD) in Oceanside, Calif., has awarded the contract for construction of the Sprinter mainline and station package to West Coast Rail Constructors, a joint venture of FCI Constructors and Fluor Enterprises. The firm submitted a final bid of $187 million for reconstruction of approximately 22 miles of railroad in the existing east-west rail corridor owned by NCTD. Work includes the removal of existing facilities and replacement of all necessary civil work, track, ties, ballast, bridge and culvert structures. The scope of work also includes the construction of 14 transit stations.
