Bombardier Transportation announced at Tuesday’s APTA Expo meeting in Dallas that New Jersey Transit has exercised options for 131 additional multilevel railcars. The options are valued at $206 million. Delivery of the cars is scheduled to take place between June 2007 and August 2008.

“These new cars are being custom-designed for New Jersey Transit and include direct input from New Jersey Transit daily customers,” said William Spurr, president of Bombardier Transportation.

With these options, Bombardier has firm orders for 231 multilevel vehicles. Total value of the firm orders received since the announcement of the New Jersey contract in 2002 is approximately $457 million.
