Bombardier Transportation announced receipt of a contract from RET, the public transport operator of the Rotterdam region of The Netherlands, to design and build 43 Bombardier Flexity Swift vehicles.  


The contract contains an option for 21 additional vehicles, depending on passenger increase and expansion of the RET network. Vehicle delivery is scheduled from June 2009 to February 2011. Bombardier delivered a total of 81 metros to RET between 1998 and 2002. 


The deal is worth approximately $205 million (USD).
