Chris Moore and his team of 12 Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority employees are in the running for a top international information technology award. Moore and his team have been recognized as a Laureate by the Computerworld Honors Program.
For two decades, Computerworld Honors has acknowledged individuals and organizations that have used information technology to benefit society. Moore, Chukwuma Mmeje and other team members purchased Palm Treo smartphones with their own money and developed a software application that could be used by rail supervisors, maintenance personnel, and elevator and escalator mechanics.
The phones are a mobile office for dozens of Metro employees, saving time and paper and increasing productivity.
