The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) will extend El bus service for the next two weekends to allow crews to install train signal cables at a subway portal at 44th Street and inside the tunnel at 40th Street Station, as part of its Market Street Elevated (MSE) reconstruction project.

MSE is a critical overhaul of the western portion of the line, which opened for service more than 100 years ago in 1907. The project includes a streamlined, single-column support structure, six new customer-friendly stations and art-inspired architectural features that will improve the overall riding experience for passengers.

Rail mounted work cars will assist in the installations.
