GE Transportation (GE), a unit of the General Electric Co., has been awarded a contract from Hangzhou Metro Group Co. LTD to provide integrated supervision and control systems on Line 1 of the Hangzhou Metro.

The company’s RailEdge Supervisory Control application will be launched on this line. GE's RailEdge platform will be applied to a 33.5-mile metro line that includes 34 stations, one operational control center, one yard and one depot. This is the first time that GE's advanced operations control technology as well as a Windows-based application will be used in China's booming transit market.

GE will partner with two businesses in China to complete the project, including Supcon as the systems integrator and Ztinstall for the installation.

The new line is anticipated to open at the end of 2011.
