EDMONTON, Alberta — Ridership on Edmonton Transit System's light rail service received a boost when it opened the first leg of its south extension in 2009. With the popularity of U-Passes programs at Grant MacEwan University and the University of Alberta, ridership is expected to soar even higher once school resumes in the fall, according to the Edmonton Journal.
