NEWARK, N.J. — In an attempt to eliminate signaling problems, upgrade electrical power equipment and replace a century-old bridge, the agency applied for high-speed passenger rail funding from the Federal Railroad Administration. The high-speed rail component of the application seeks to improve trip times, reliability and capacity on the Trenton to New York section of the corridor owned by Amtrak, APP.com reports.
