NEW YORK — Several issues caused the disruption of Amtrak, New Jersey Transit (NJ Transit) and Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) services on Monday and Tuesday, stranding thousands of commuters for hours, according to the New York Daily News. Both Amtrak and NJ Transit experienced power problems while a fire inside a control tower near Jamaica, N.Y., burned equipment used to control track switches at the nearby train hub.
