[IMAGE]TideSafetyDay-2.jpg[/IMAGE]INIT, Innovations in Transportation Inc., will join forces with local residents and businesses to volunteer as "Tide Guides" assisting riders with safety tips, handing out train schedules and teaching them how to use the ticket terminals, when Norfolk, Va.'s new light rail system, The Tide, launches this week.

The rally of support for the new light rail system holds significant value for INIT staff due to the use of INIT's Automatic Passenger Counting (APC) technology onboard the new Siemens S70 vehicles.

INIT employees serving as Tide Guides will be wearing buttons that say, "Proud to have our technology onboard." The volunteer project is just one of many community efforts INIT has taken part in Norfolk.
