NORFOLK, Va. — South Hampton Roads will have Amtrak-operated passenger rail service to Richmond, and on to Washington, D.C. and the Northeast Corridor, no later than the end of 2012, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

The new launch date is nearly a year earlier than planned. Trip time between Norfolk and Washington should be about 4½ hours, according to the report. For the full story, click here.
