Calif. light rail collision is system’s worst

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A transit official told the San Francisco Chronicle that the recent crash between a Sacramento Regional Transit District commuter train and an SUV that killed three people is the worst accident since the light rail system opened in 1987.

The official told the AP that the system averages one to two accidents a year at its railroad crossings but fatalities are rare. For the full story, click here.
