MBTA board approves fare hikes, some cuts

BOSTON — The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority’s board approved an average 23% fare hike along with modest cuts in services, with weekend commuter rail cuts being spared, according to the Gloucester Times.

In approving the spending reduction plan, the board acknowledged the measures might be nothing more than a one-year patch for the underfunded transit system. For the full story, click here.
