NEW YORK — Crime on New York City subways has surged by more than 20% due to pickpockets and other thieves, according the the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). Due to the growing problem, some MTA board members are pushing for a new prosecutor appointed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo to specifically handle subway crimes, reported CBS New York.
