MBTA to bid out commuter rail

BOSTON — The state of Massachusetts sent out a request for qualified bidders to run the commuter rail service currently operated by the Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad Co., newburyportnews.com reported.

To attract more bidders, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority is considering a longer contract period of up to 15 years, instead of the more standard five- to eight-year contract length. For the full story, click here.
