NEW YORK — Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office said that restoring New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) subways to pre-Hurricane Sandy condition will cost nearly $5 billion, Gothamist reported. The total equals approximately one year of the transit system’s capital budget.

Additionally, the New York City Transit Riders Council asked the MTA to compensate riders for Unlimited MetroCard days lost during the hurricane, even though the agency already said it wouldn't. For the full story, click here.
