London’s Tube turns 150

LONDON — The Tube, the world’s first subway system, turned 150 years old on Wednesday, reports the AP.

The Tube, now part of an extensive London transport network which carries roughly 1.2 billion passengers each year, ran only 120 trains and carried 40,000 passengers daily in 1863. To read the full story, click here.
