NEWARK, N.J. — NJ Transit officials told NorthJersey.com that more railcars and locomotives — 342 — were damaged by Superstorm Sandy than originally thought and that the cost of the storm to the agency has risen to $450 million.
Originally, 323 pieces of equipment were reported as damaged and the cost of the storm was thought to be $400 million. The effort to repair the equipment is being delayed by difficulty in finding some spare parts. For the full story, click here.
