PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland Tribune reported that the second Portland Streetcar produced by Portland-based United Streetcar went into service on Tuesday. A third streetcar may begin service next week after certification testing.

Portland Streetcar officials told the paper that they hope to deliver the last of the six streetcars ordered by Portland later this summer. Total costs for the prototype and six production streetcars are approximately $26.3 million. The manufacturer will then begin producing streetcars for other American cities that are starting their own streetcar lines, such as Tuscon, Ariz. and Washington, D.C.
