MBTA program to boost ridership on new line

BOSTON — The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) will pilot a program aimed at boosting ridership on a newly revived 9.2-mile Fairmount Commuter Rail Line and test whether it can help create jobs, housing and economic vitality in the struggling Boston communities it serves, The Boston Globe reported.

The MBTA plans on cutting fares and adding service to help attain its goal of increasing ridership by 20%, according to the report. For the full story, click here.
