Bugs in Minn. Metro’s rail alert system irk riders

MINNEAPOLIS — The Star Tribune reported that Northstar Commuter line riders are complaining about the system’s electronic alerts, which they said are uninformative and sometimes arrive too late to be useful. Some riders also told the paper that they received the same alert message several times.

Metro Transit launched the alert service last month in response to an outcry from riders over frequent delays that occurred on the line over the last two months.

John Siqveland, spokesman for Metro Transit told the Star Tribune that the system is still in beta testing and was rolled out before it was truly ready when Northstar delays became frequent. For the full story, click here.
