SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Regional Transit (RT) board approved HDR Inc. to continue design work needed for a streetcar project that will run between West Sacramento and midtown, but will vote on the proposal at a later date, KCRA reports.

The plan passed is a modified version, excluding plans in the design contract. Those plans will be voted on in either August or September. The design contract outlines a $10 million budget to construct the streetcar line.

The city wants the money to come from property owners near the streetcar line, but they rejected it in a vote last year. Funding is already pledged from West Sacramento, Sacramento County and the federal government. For the full story, click here.
