BALTIMORE — The U.S. Department of Transportation intends to green light its share of the funding for the Purple Line light rail line, freeing up the $325 million already set aside for the project, according to a WAMU report.

The 16-mile light-rail line, which will run through Montgomery and Prince George’s counties, will connect to Metrorail lines, MARC, Amtrak, and local bus services.

The Purple Line has faced numerous hurdles over the years, including lawsuits, budgetary constraints, and recently, there were concerns that the Trump Administration wouldn’t grant the federal money needed to fund the $2 billion project, according to WAMU. For the full story, click here.
