Alstom to supply 168 railcars to India

The $308M contract includes an option for 16 additional metro cars. The new trains will be equipped with Automatic Train Protection and Automatic Train Operation features. The first deliveries are planned for the end of 2012.

MBTA makes 'real-time' bus information available

Following a project to equip more than 1,000 buses with GPS technology in 2009, dispatchers in the MBTA's Bus Operations Control Center were able for the first time to pinpoint the location of every MBTA bus in real-time. As of today, that same information is available to T bus riders, regardless of route.

L.A. Metro releases trip planning iPhone app

'Go Metro-Los Angeles' allows customers to locate the nearest Metro Bus lines and Metro Rail stations based on the iPhone's GPS capabilities. The app is integrated with Google Maps. Rail stations are represented with a pin and a popup displays the bus line information.

S.F. completes rail project, restores 61 percent of service

The St. Francisco Circle Rail Replacement Project included rebuilding two low-level boarding islands and two platforms for customers with disabilities and installing 3,000 track feet of rail; two automatic rail switches; and a fully integrated train and traffic signal control system as well as updating the storm sewer system.
